More Americans Favor Marijuana Legalization Than 30 Years Ago

More Americans are comfortable with the idea of the legalization of marijuana today than they were 30 years ago.
That’s according to a new CBS/New York Times survey which found that 41 percent of Americans favor the legalization of cannabis compared to 27 percent in 1979.
There is also an age gap in the survey with adults aged 45 and younger being more in favor of legalization (49 percent) than those over the age of 45 (31 percent).
Some say this change in attitude means someone like Michael Phelps, who was recently caught on camera allegedly smoking marijuana, will not be seen as a pariah as he might have been 30 years ago.
Although Phelps was recently issued a three month suspension from USA Swimming, he has not suffered from any major companies dropping him as a sponsor - yet.
Various reports say Kelloggs will not renew their contract with the gold medal winning swimmer when it is up for renewal at the end of this month.
“Michael’s most recent behavior is not consistent with the image of Kellogg. His contract expires at the end of February and we have made a decision not to extend his contract,” said Kellogg in a statement.

I wish they would weed legalization already.

Look at the effects of alcohol and prescription drugs. Marijuana is a natural drug that doesn’t have a lot of the dangerous side effects as pills and alcohol. I am actually surprised at the thought of being able to buy these products legally but not being able to even smoke. One good way to look at it, no one has ever died from a marijuana overdose. Trying to make the world a safe, fair, and fun place to share with each other.
My father is facing prison time because of possesion of marijuana. If the judge only knew how my father helps the community, he/she would find it offensive to put this man in jail. My dad raised over $1500.00 for the toys for tots to help the local children have a christmas. He would help any stranger out of the kindness of his heart__ if your relative was stranded on the road, he would ALWAYS take the time to change a tire or at least give a ride and use of his phone. My dad is my grandmother’s favorite because he is always there for her and has always been so loving and helpful to everyone he comes across. The decriminalization of marijuana is very much needed so every day citizens can peacefully and privately live their lives and I and others do not have to pay taxes on keeping people like my father in jail for impertenant causes. It will be hard to undue what has been done to the american people in jail/prison right now but we can stop this now. Yes we can!!!
